Jodi Walsh: Founder, House of Artistry
Young Artist Program: Artist, Co-Director
Jodi Walsh left her native country of Canada in 1967 for the Far East and Eurpoe, a move that would influence her life and work forever.
She moved to the United States in 1978 and while art and design has always been a part of her life she first began to emerge as a serious artist in 1995.
She has enjoyed sharing her artist experience with young artists since she starting teaching children at the Magic Palette, Houston, Texas in 1980. Since then she has exhibited her own artwork nationally and assisted artists of all ages in creating their own work.
"Drawing out the creative side of very young children is an extremely important job. They need to experience the freedom of creating and at the same time learn the hidden lessons of following instructions, math, shape, hand eye coordination, composition, color and being part of a team in callaborating with fellow artists. Hopefully they will learn lessons of creativity at a very young age that they will take with them the rest of their lives."
